What is the purpose of life? Why is there suffering? Is there more to existence than we see? If you’ve ever pondered these questions, The Alpha Course is a great place to dive deeper.
Starting tomorrow evening and continuing every Monday night for 10 weeks in The Atrium diner- pop along if you're curious!
We invite you to join the Alpha Course, which kicks off tomorrow in the Atrium bar from 7pm. Alpha is a series of group conversations that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment.
Come along to try it out- there's no pressure to stay or come back- and there'll be free food from Dolphin's Caribbean Cuisine!
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone, no matter your background or beliefs. Whether you’re new to exploring faith or simply open-minded about it all, Alpha is for you.
We all bring different thoughts to the table, and we want to create a space that’s open for everyone to find what faith means for them.
What happens at Alpha?
Every Alpha is different, but generally they have three things in common:
Food – Most sessions start with food, because it’s a great way to connect and get to know everyone there. Dolphin's Caribbean Cuisine will provide our food and drinks will be provided from the bar.
Talk – The talks are videos which explore the basics of the Christian faith and are designed to inspire conversation, they're usually around thirty minutes long.
Conversation – There is a discussion after the talk where you can share your thoughts and ideas on the session’s topic. There’s no such thing as a wrong or silly question. You can say anything you like, or nothing at all.
What topics does Alpha cover?
Each session covers a different topic, like prayer, the bible, who Jesus is and loads more.
Then there’s plenty of time to chat about what you think. There’s never pressure to share your thoughts, but the floor is yours if you do want to say something.
How much does Alpha cost?
It’s free, including the food and drinks! And there’s no follow up and never any pressure to come back.
Why is The Atrium running an Alpha course?
The Journey Church, which I'm a part of, often meet in The Atrium diner on a Sunday morning. They're hosting the course in partnership with The Atrium. I'm passionate about people discovering more about faith and who Jesus was, because when I did, it changed my life. It's also shaped how we do things at The Atrium e.g being a welcoming place where everyone knows they're valued and important, and a space where we can make a real difference to people's lives.
I'm happy to be asked anything about my faith and why it's important- and if you have any questions about Alpha I'd love to chat to you.
Why not give it a go- you've got nothing to lose and everything to discover. Hope to see you there!
